List of Foods that will boost your brain



Research shows that what you eat is one of the most powerful influences on everyday brain skills, says Cynthia Green, PhD, founder and director of the Memory Enhancement Program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and author of Brainpower Game Plan. Your memory, ability to learn and attention span will benefit from the healthful foods you choose. Getting smarter involves a series of combination like learning new information, retaining that information and maintaining the health of brain. To maintain the health of a brain you have to eat certain foods that keep your brain smarter and healthier. So here is the list of foods and beverages that will boost your brain and make you smarter.

Blueberries


Blueberries help to build healthy and strong connections between brain cells. It contains the anthocyanidins, compounds that have shown to be beneficial in protecting against the Alzheimer’s disease. Blueberry also helps to improve the cognitive and reasoning abilities.


Avocado, Oils and Seeds

They all contain an important antioxidant, Vitamin E. People, who consumed moderate amounts of vitamin E from food not from supplements, lowered their risk of AD by 65%.













Salmon

Salmon is a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Salmon helps and fires up your brain by making synapses stronger and allowing communication between the brains cells to be faster. It is great way to enhance your focus and retention.

Water

Every cell in your body needs a moderate amount of water and your brain cells also needs water in fact about three quarters of our brain is water. Ohio University found that people whose bodies were well hydrated scored significantly better on tests of brainpower.

Coffee

While too much coffee might give you the jitters, but a good cup of coffee is very useful in improving your short-term memory and research has shown that coffee also improves long-term memory. A French study found that women over 65 who drank three cups of coffee a day were better able to recall words than women who consumed little or none.


Eggs

Whole eggs, including the yolk, contain a form of Omega 3 fatty acids called DHA and our brain is composed of about 40% DHA. So eating a few eggs a week will do your brain some good. Moderate amount of omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to improve mood and cognitive function.
